The Clothing Closet @ TCP

The Clothing Closet exists to provide LGBTQ+ folks in need with free clothing and accessories in a safe, gender affirming, and welcoming environment. As we are able, we also try to provide expensive transition related items to trans and non-binary people who cannot otherwise afford or access these items.

Our volunteers can open the Closet for you to shop privately, or we can help you as much as you need. You are always welcome to bring friends!

Services our volunteers can provide:

  • Binder Sizing & Information
  • Bra Sizing & Information
  • Help finding styles, fits & sizes
  • Information about Size Conversion

Donate to The Clothing Closet

The Clothing Closet is entirely sustained by community donations, and we are so grateful for our community’s generosity. Monetary donations go towards the purchase of binders, bras, underwear, and forms – items that are expensive and can be difficult to find and safely access. Donations of clothes and accessories are sorted and put out as soon as there is space.

At this time, we are most in need of:

  • Winter Coats
  • Closed Toe Shoes
  • Sizes: XS, S, XXL+
  • Clean & Very Gently Used Socks, Bras, & Underwear
  • Binders

If you have any questions or would like to make a donation, please contact us at tcpclothingproject@thecenterproject.org.

About The Closet

The Clothing Closet was started in 2016 by two trans undergraduate students at MU who had identified a need on campus among LGBTQ students. The Closet was originally run out of their garage, and in 2017, they partnered with The Center Project to make their huge stock of clothing and accessories available to the wider LGBTQ community in mid-Missouri.
