This project is a series of portraits of people belonging to vulnerable, marginalized communities (the African-American, LBGTQ and immigrant communities) in and around Columbia, Missouri. These communities share a history of oppression and discrimination in our society. With the rise in bigotry and racism since the presidential election, it has become urgent that each of them be seen, accepted and celebrated, and that they find their rightful place within the tapestry of our humanity.
Transgender Day of Remembrance (#TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. We have lost so many more since this video was created.
